General FAQ's

Q) How long has Equitopia been open?
A) Equitopia was publicly opened on 13th February 2011 at 6pm GMT. The game is still in open beta meaning there are and will be small glitches to work through.

Q) What browser is best used to view the site?
A) Equitopia is developed and tested using Google Chrome and is therefore the recommended browser to use for this site. Other browsers, such as Firefox and Internet Explorer are also used to test the site, however there is no guarantee the game or features will work 100% in any browser, apart from Chrome.

Q) How long will my account be active if I don't login?
A) Your account will be active for 12 months if you do not login, unless you are banned or request it to be removed sooner. After 12 months, any inactive accounts are deleted.

Q) What is an Equid?
A) Equids are Equitopia’s unique fantasy horse breeds that are governed by five different elements; water, fire, earth, ice and wind. Each Equid breed is based on a real life horse breed and each element has its own “type” of breed. For example, Earth breeds are based on Heavy/Draught horses.

Q) What are the Oracles?
A) The Oracles are five magical deities that were created by Abraxas to stand guardian over Equitopia. They are also responsible for spawning the different Equid breeds and each is Head of their Elemental Guild.

Q) What is a Custom Equid?
Custom Equids are first generation Equids that have been created and customised by a player using magical runes that can be purchased at the METZ Emporium.

Q) Can I change my display name?
A) Yes, you can change/edit your display name by visiting your profile, then clicking on the edit icon (spanner) under your avatar. Please note, display names must not be offensive or break any rules/terms of the game. Additionally, please do not use the names of other games or sites in your display name.

Q) How do I apply to become a Moderator?
A) Moderators are chosen by the Owner and Administrators and therefore, there is no application process. If you are proven to be a responsible, reliable and mature player, you may be approached and invited to become a Moderator. Acceptance of this invite is entirely the player's decision.

Q) What are the benefits of an Upgraded Resident Account?
A) Players who upgrade their account to Resident will receive numerous benefits. These include, a £25000EP weekly allowance, double the weekly bank interest, ability to purchase a storage shed, rainbow, water wheel, player shop and upgrade their home to an island. Additionally, upgraded players can have a profile/forum avatar and forum signature and gain access to special features and training arenas that cost half the price of a normal training arena and give more AP to an Equid.

Gameplay FAQ's

Q) Will my Equid(s) ever die?
A) No, your Equids are immortal for as long as you play Equitopia.

Q) Do Equids age?
A) Equids do age, but not in the same way as you or I do - their age is simply an indicator of when they were born and is displayed in Aeons (Equitopian days), not real days.

Q) How can I raise my Equid's variables?
A) By purchasing, growing or crafting feed, water, treats and medication from the shops or crafting stations. You can then give these to your Equid via your inventory.

Q) How do I increase my Equid's Arcana?
A) To increase your Equid's Arcana, you must visit one of the five training arenas placed on the World Map. Each training session costs between 100 and 500 EP and gives a specific Arcana that varies between 5 and 25 AP.

Q) How do I equip my Equid with tack/armour/backgrounds/sidekicks?
A) You can equip and unequip these items from your inventory. Click on the item you wish to equip and choose the Equid you wish to equip it to from the drop down list.

Q) What is a brand and how do I get my Equid branded?
A) Players have the opportunity to create and upload their own unique brand. Once approved, the brand will display on your Equid on either the shoulder or thigh. Find the Branding Iron the World Map.

Q) How do I earn game money?
A) Players can earn game money by completing quests, quizzes, playing image puzzles, word guess, selling harvested crops and selling/breeding Equids. You can also sell any unwanted items to the Vizier, located somewhere on the World Map.

Q) How do I buy an Equid?
A) You can buy an Equid by either visiting the Studs on each realm, the Equid auctions or advertising in the Sales forum.

Q) How do I sell an Equid?
A) There are numerous ways to sell an Equid. You can put it up for auction, instant buy or both, lasting from 1 hour up to 2 weeks. There is also a Sales forum where you can advertise Equids that are for sale.

Q) Can I find out who previously owned my Equid?
A) Yes - simply click on the "View History" link on an Equid's profile to view previous owners.

Q) How do I get rid of unwanted Equids?
A) If you cannot sell or gift an Equid to another player, you can give it to the ERS (Equid Retirement Sanctuary) to retire. The ERS gives £5000 for all Equids, regardless of traits, arcana skill or pedigree. This process cannot be undone and the Equid will disappear from the game forever.

Q) How can I find out if my Equid is in the Stall of Fame?
A) You can view the Equid Rankings by following the "Stall of Fame" link in the main menu.

Q) What is METZ and how can I buy it?
A) METZ stands for Magical Equitopian Tokenz and is a type of exonumia that has no numerical value. METZ can be used to purchase special items from the Metz Emporium to customise gameplay.

Q) Why does METZ cost real money to buy?
A) METZ costs real money to help cover the costs of hosting, running of the server and the continued improvement of the game, site and features. Without money being donated, the game and site would struggle and eventually have to close.

Breeding FAQ's

Q) What conditions must be met before I can breed?
A) The conditions of breeding are that the player must either have a Stud Barn (for breeding a stallion), or Foaling Barn (for breeding a mare) on their Homestead. The mare and stallion must be transferred to either the Stud Barn (stallion) or Foaling Barn (mare) prior to breeding. Additionally, both the stallion and mare's aura and vitality must be over 90 and all other variables above 25.

Q) How long is the gestation period?
A) The gestation period lasts 7 real-time days (28 Aeons) from the time the mare was bred until the birth of her foal.

Q) How long does it take for a foal to grow into an adult?
A) It takes 7 real-time days (28 Aeons) for a foal to grow in to an adult.

Q) How long after giving birth can I breed a mare again?
A) A mare's post-natal recovery (PNR for short), lasts 7 days (28 Aeons) from the time her last foal was born. During this recovery period a mare cannot breed.

Q) Is there any way to reduce time limits, such as pregnancy and PNR?
A) Yes, gestation, PNR and a foal's maturity rate can all be reduced by using specific METZ items that are available to buy from the Metz Emporium.

Q) Can I request to use other players' stallions as a stud?
A) Yes - when viewing other players' Equids, if their stallion is up for stud, you will see an option to choose one of your compatible mare's to breed to. Only when a player has accepted your request will breeding take place. Please note, a player is under no obligation to accept your stud request.

Q) Why isn't my foal maturing in to an adult after 7 days (28 Aeons)?
A) In order for a foal to mature in to an adult, it must be given a Foal Med Pack. If your foal does not receive it during the first 7 days after its birth it will remain a foal and not mature in to an adult until the Foal Med Pack is given. Please note that you cannot sell, breed, train or shoe a foal and it is therefore in your best interest to ensure every foal you breed is given the Foal Med Pack.

Q) What are mutations?
A) Mutations are found in Custom Equids only and is up to the player whether they choose their Equid to receive them. Mutations include antlers, fins, alicorns etc.
